The Ministry of External Affairs has launched India’s new ePassport system, integrating biometric AI verification and blockchain encryption. Every new passport issued from July 2025 will include a biometric chip with facial, iris, and fingerprint data. Immigration kiosks at major airports will allow fully paperless exit and entry for Indian citizens. The ePassport data is also stored on a secure blockchain to prevent tampering. Officials say this will reduce passport fraud and expedite visa clearances in partner countries.
